William Kocher had one point to lead the Flint Jr. Generals to a 2-1 victory over the Toledo Cherokee.

The win gave Flint a 1-0 lead in the best of one series.

Toledo was unable to stop the Jr. Generals from sending pucks towards the net, and Flint eventually piled up 39 shots on goal.

Richard Jansson also scored for Flint. More assists for Flint came via Derek Compeau and Nicholas Goettel, who contributed one a piece.

The Cherokee put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Jr. Generals to score on any of their five power plays.

Toledo was led by Parker Hack, who scored the team's only goal. Hack scored 16:14 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Toledo. Joe Skrzynski picked up the assist.

Flint's Dominic Orlando stopped 22 shots out of the 23 that he faced. The Jr. Generals incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Austyn Roudebush rejected 37 shots on goal for the Cherokee. Toledo incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors.
