St. Louis boosted by Fernsler's play in net, beats Granite City 2-1Fox Valley NHL Rink Fri, Mar 30, 2012 Story by Narrative Science.
Mitchell Fernsler had a standout game with 33 saves, and the St. Louis Jr. Blues beat the Granite City Lumberjacks 2-1. The win gave St. Louis a 1-0 lead in the best of one series. The Jr. Blues were led by Johnny Mueller, who grabbed one goal and one assist. Mueller scored 12:15 into the third period to make the score 2-1 St. Louis. Joe Bowler provided the assist. Granite City was unable to stop St. Louis from sending pucks towards the net, and the Jr. Blues eventually piled up 34 shots on goal. St. Louis also got a goal from Daniel Rosse as well. The Lumberjacks' offense rang up 34 shots on St. Louis' net. Granite City was led by Trevor Ness, who scored the team's only goal. Ness scored 3:28 into the third period to make the score 1-0 Granite City. Riley Bengtson assisted on the tally. The Jr. Blues incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Matt Grove recorded 32 saves for the Lumberjacks. Granite City incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. |
