Blake Thomas lifted the St. Thomas Stars to a 4-2 victory with a hat trick against the St. Marys Lincolns. Thomas notched his first tally 1:03 into the first period. He then added goals at 2:09 into the third and at 19:35 into the third.After the loss made the series score 3-1 in the best of seven series, St. Marys faces elimination next time out. St. Thomas' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four St. Marys power plays. The Stars kept the Lincolns' goalie busy throughout the game, and Craig Wood made 37 saves on 41 shots. St. Thomas also got points from Colin Mooney, who also finished with one goal and one assist. In addition, St. Thomas received assists from Drew Collinson, who had two and Marcus Michalski and Brett Hope, who contributed one a piece. St. Marys forced St. Thomas goalie Michael Slaats to work between the pipes, taking 42 shots. The Lincolns struggled to stay out of the sin bin throughout the game as they finished the game with 28 penalty minutes for eight opposing power plays. St. Marys was helped by Reid Oliver, who tallied one goal. Oliver scored 4:41 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Mike Mandarelli assisted on the tally. St. Marys also got a goal from Calvin Penney as well. Other players who recorded assists for St. Marys were Danny Bryan and Brady Wiffen, who each chipped in one. Slaats recorded 40 saves for the Stars. St. Thomas incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. For the Lincolns, Shayne Rhyno was ejected from the game.
