Waterloo downs Stratford in overtime, 3-2 (OT)Allman Arena Mon, Mar 05, 2012 Story by Narrative Science.
The Waterloo Siskins' Eric Fischer scored 31 seconds into overtime to beat the Stratford Cullitons, 3-2 (OT). The win moved Waterloo to down 2-1 in the best of seven series. The Siskins came back from a two-goal deficit to capture the victory. Waterloo fell behind 2-0 after a goal by Stratford's Steven Dol at 18:37 in the second period. The Siskins knotted things up at 2-2 on a goal by Mike Van Ooteghem at 17:26 in the third period. Van Ooteghem had two goals and one assist to lead Waterloo. Van Ooteghem scored the first of his two goals at 11:26 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Stratford. Andrew Brubacher provided the assist. Van Ooteghem's next tally made the score with 2:34 left in the third period. Kyle Platzer assisted on the tally. The Siskins stifled the Cullitons' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. In addition, Waterloo received assists from Sean Fennell, who had one. Stratford's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Waterloo power plays. The Cullitons kept Waterloo's goalie busy throughout the game, and PJ Bridges made 48 saves on 50 shots. Stratford also got a goal from Ryan Watson as well. More assists for Stratford came via Ray Huether, who had one. The Siskins incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Jesse Raymond recorded 24 saves for Stratford. The Cullitons incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
