Brantford's Quilty deadly on offense in 5-2 win against KitchenerGretzky Main Rink Sun, Mar 04, 2012 Story by Narrative Science.
The Brantford Golden Eagles relied on the scoring touch of Matt Quilty, who netted two goals, to beat the Kitchener Dutchmen, 5-2. Quilty's tallies came at 4:47 into the first period to make the score 1-1 and 9:27 into the third to make the score 4-2 Brantford.The win moved Brantford to down 2-1 in the best of seven series. The Golden Eagles forced Kitchener goalie Mario Duscio to work between the pipes, taking 50 shots. Brantford also got a goal from Tyler Norrie as well. More assists for Brantford came via Dillan Walker, who had two, Mike Riley, who had three, and Eric Jackson and Dave Lazurus, who contributed one a piece. The Dutchmen struggled to stay out of the sin bin throughout the game as they finished the game with 39 penalty minutes for seven opposing power plays. Kitchener was helped by Paul Sergi, who had one goal. Sergi scored on the power play 19:01 into the first period to make the score 2-2. The Dutchmen earned a power play opportunity when Brandon Montour was put in the box for tripping. Tyler Hoffman provided the assist. Brett Clampitt also scored for Kitchener. Other players who recorded assists for Kitchener were Robin Clarke, who had one and Phil Edgar, who had two. Bryce O Hagan made 21 saves for Brantford on 23 shots. The Golden Eagles ended with 19 minutes in penalty time with two minors and one major. Brantford ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Andrew Wilson was ejected from the game. Duscio rejected 45 shots on goal for Kitchener. The Dutchmen registered one goal on four power play opportunities. For Kitchener, Clampitt was ejected from the game.
