Leamington falls to Strathroy in overtime, 3-2 (OT)

The Strathroy Rockets pulled out a 3-2 (OT) overtime victory over the Leamington Flyers on a clutch goal by Derek Nap.

The win gave Strathroy a 1-0 lead in the best of seven series.

Nap was all over the ice for the Rockets, as he had two goals in the win. Nap scored on the power play at 5:54 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Strathroy and again while 4:02 into the fourth to make the score 3-2 Strathroy.

Strathroy's offense rang up 35 shots on Leamington's net. The Rockets could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 18 minutes in penalties during the game.

Tyler Duarte also scored for Strathroy. More assists for Strathroy came via Jordan McNaughton, Ryan Field, Davis Brown, and Brian Brosnan, who contributed one a piece.

The Flyers kept Strathroy's goalie busy throughout the game, and Dalen Kuchmey made 53 saves on 55 shots.

Leamington was helped by Tyler Quigley, who registered one goal. Quigley scored on the power play 3:59 into the second period to make the score 1-1. The Flyers had gotten the advantage when the Rockets' Nick Boyer was sent off for hooking. Austin Mattson provided the assist. Leamington also got a goal from Tony Spidalieri as well. In addition, Leamington received assists from Matt Ogden, who had one and Ron Soucie, who had two.

Strathroy registered one goal on two power play opportunities. Leamington's Colin Greeley stopped 32 shots out of the 35 that he faced. The Flyers incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Leamington ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Eric Leardi was ejected from the game.
