Lavoie's goals lift Thorold to 4-0 victory over Welland

Kevin Lavoie was all over the ice for the Thorold Blackhawks, as he tallied two goals in Thorold's 4-0 win over the Welland Jr. Canadians.

Lavoie's tallies came at 16:06 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Thorold and 11:46 into the second to make the score 2-0 Thorold.

The win moved the Blackhawks to down 2-0 in the best of seven series.

Evan Buitenhuis frustrated Welland's offense all game, and stopped 26 shots en route to a shutout. Buitenhuis managed to improve on his goals against average, which stood at 0.96 prior to the game.

Thorold's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on five Welland power plays. The Blackhawks kept the Jr. Canadians' goalie busy throughout the game, and Matt Coulombe made 54 saves on 58 shots.

Thorold also got a goal from Joel Forestell as well. Other players who recorded assists for Thorold were Mike Purcell, Owen Sobchak, Kyle Leto, Ed Creighton, and Robert MacFarlane, who each chipped in one.

Welland could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 28 minutes in penalties during the game.

Thorold incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors. The Jr. Canadians ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Kevin LaRocque was ejected from the game.
