Selber Wölfe survives Deggendorf Fire comeback, wins 5-3Netzsch-Arena Tue, Mar 06, 2012 Deggendorf Fire almost clawed its way back from a three-goal deficit, but Selber Wölfe managed to pull out a 5-3 win in the end. Selber Wölfe led by three goals at one point and ended with the victory. The largest advantage in the game came when Selber Wölfe's Herbert Geisberger's scored at 6:27 in the second period to put Selber Wölfe up 4-1. After the loss made the series score 2-1 in the best of five series, Deggendorf Fire faces elimination next time out. Dennis Thielsch and Jared Mudryk provided the spark for Selber Wölfe, combining for three goals and three assists. Thielsch racked up two goals and Mudryk also added one goal and three assists. Selber Wölfe struggled to stay out of the sin bin throughout the game as it finished the game with 24 penalty minutes for three opposing power plays. Selber Wölfe additionally got points from Kyle Piwowarczyk, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. In addition, Selber Wölfe received assists from Yann Jeschke, who had two and David Hördler, Dennis (FL) Dörner, and Tim Schneider, who each chipped in one. Deggendorf Fire's penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as Deggendorf Fire finished with 24 penalty minutes. Deggendorf Fire was led by Nicolas Sochatsky, who finished with two goals. Sochatsky scored the first of his two goals at 4:16 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Deggendorf Fire. Dominik Retzer assisted on the tally. Sochatsky's next tally made the score 4-2 Selber Wölfe with 10:31 left in the second period. Christian Retzer picked up the assist. Andrew Schembri also scored for Deggendorf Fire. Other players who recorded assists for Deggendorf Fire were Benjamin Frank, Brett Wilson, and Stefan Ortolf, who contributed one a piece.
