Deggendorf Fire squeaks by Selber Wölfe, 6-5

In a game where neither team could get a cushion, Deggendorf Fire escaped with a 6-5 victory over Selber Wölfe.

Deggendorf Fire gained the winning advantage on a goal by Stefan Ortolf 18:19 into the third period and hung on until final buzzer.

With the win, Deggendorf Fire evened the series at 1-1 in the best of five showdown.

Ortolf was all over the ice for Deggendorf Fire, as he tallied two goals and one assist in the win. Ortolf scored the first of his two goals at 5:36 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Deggendorf Fire. Andrew Schembri provided the assist. Ortolf's next tally made the score 6-5 Deggendorf Fire with 1:41 left in the third period. Schembri assisted on the tally.

Deggendorf Fire also got points from Bogdan Selea, who also registered one goal and one assist. Markus Ruderer also scored for Deggendorf Fire. More assists for Deggendorf Fire came via Dominik Retzer, who had one, Nico Wolfgramm, who had three, and Nicolas Sochatsky and Brett Wilson, who contributed two a piece.

Selber Wölfe put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Deggendorf Fire to score on any of its five power plays. Selber Wölfe could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 26 minutes in penalties during the game.

Selber Wölfe was led by Dennis Thielsch, who tallied two goals and one assist. Thielsch scored the first of his two goals at 7:35 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Deggendorf Fire. David Hördler provided the assist. Thielsch's next tally made the score 5-5 with 3:39 left in the second period. Daniel Heilman assisted on the tally. Selber Wölfe additionally got points from Jared Mudryk, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Selber Wölfe also got a goal from Kyle Piwowarczyk as well. Deggendorf Fire incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Selber Wölfe registered one goal on two power play opportunities.
