Innamorato's big game bests Farmingdale State in 10-3 Southern Connecticut win

Joseph Innamorato was all over the ice for the Southern Connecticut Owls, as he tallied two goals and three assists in Southern Connecticut's 10-3 win over the Farmingdale State Rams.

Innamorato's tallies came on the power play at 19:42 into the second period to make the score 4-2 Southern Connecticut and 4:31 into the third to make the score 6-2 Southern Connecticut.

Both teams had a hard time staying out of the box, and they combined for 15 penalties during the game.

The Owls put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Farmingdale State to score on any of its four power plays. The Rams were unable to stop Southern Connecticut from sending pucks towards the net, and the Owls eventually piled up 40 shots on goal. Southern Connecticut found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. The Owls average six goals per game. Southern Connecticut's penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as the Owls finished with 14 penalty minutes. The leading offender was Kyle Amarone, who totaled four minutes in penalty time with two minors. The defensemen of Southern Connecticut were also effective in Farmingdale State's zone, and came away with two goals.

Southern Connecticut also got points from Justin MacGregor, who also tallied one goal and three assists, Steven Rosencrantz, who also grabbed one goal and two assists, Innamorato, who also racked up two goals and three assists, and Nik Backos, who also finished with one goal and two assists. Southern Connecticut got a goal from Michael Penna as well. More assists for Southern Connecticut came via Joseph Barnes and Jordan Knightly, who each chipped in one.

The Rams' offense operated below they season average. Farmingdale State puts an average of five pucks into the net per game. The Rams' offense efficiently hummed along to the tune of 40 shots put on the Owls' net. Farmingdale State could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 16 minutes in penalties during the game. The leading offender was Michael Leprine, who totaled four minutes in penalty time with two minors.

The Rams were led by Frank Florio, who tallied two goals and one assist. Florio scored the first of his two goals at 2:55 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Farmingdale State. Brian Yohe provided the assist. Florio's next tally made the score 3-2 Southern Connecticut with 6:13 left in the second period. Jack Radin assisted on the tally. Farmingdale State additionally got points from Florio, who also had two goals and one assist. Tristen Heidenrich also scored for Farmingdale State. In addition, Farmingdale State received assists from Scott Brennan, who had one.

Southern Connecticut's Mike Federico stopped 37 shots out of the 40 that he faced. The Owls registered one goal on five power play opportunities. Matthew Cammarata recorded 30 saves for Farmingdale State.
