Essex rolls over Dresden, 7-2GLJHL Head Office Tue, Mar 06, 2012 Story by Narrative Science.
The Essex 73s were firing on all cylinders against the Dresden Kings, and when the final buzzer sounded 73s emerged with a 7-2 win. After the loss made the series score 3-2 in the best of seven series, Dresden faces elimination next time out. Essex got the win with help from a great game by Dylan Solecki, who had two goals and one assist. Solecki scored the first of his two goals at 9:49 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Sean Ducharme provided the assist. Solecki's next tally made the score 7-1 Essex with 6:43 left in the third period. Adam Dunmore assisted on the tally. The 73s pulled out the victory even though they were hit with 24 penalty minutes. Essex excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in seven chances. The 73s' offense rang up 43 shots on the Kings' net. Essex additionally got points from Dan Bacon, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Essex also got a goal from Corey Beaulieu as well. Other players who recorded assists for Essex were Blaise Baillargeon, Jordan Brohman, Tyler Pope-Ferguson, Aaron Thibert, Taylor Speed, Chad Hedrick, and Brian Hamlin, who contributed one a piece. Dresden's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on five Essex power plays. The Kings were helped by Cam Ross, who grabbed one goal and one assist. Ross scored 2:34 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Dresden. Jeremy Griffore picked up the assist. More assists for Dresden came via Kyle Havens and Jim Rouse, who each chipped in one. Essex's Speed stopped 22 shots out of the 24 that he faced. Brent Paxton rejected 36 shots on goal for Dresden. The Kings incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with 10 minors.
