Fernandes' big game bests Junior Bruins in 4-1 Mass Maple Leafs win

Mass Maple Leafs' Joseph Fernandes had a big offensive game, scoring two goals and contributing one assist in his team's 4-1 win over Junior Bruins.

Fernandes scored at 7:28 into the first period to make the score 1-1 and again while on the power play 35 seconds into the second to make the score 2-1 Mass Maple Leafs.

The win gave Mass Maple Leafs a 1-0 lead in the best of one series.

Junior Bruins was stymied by Mass Maple Leafs netminder Cody Stocker, who stopped 30 shots during the victory. The solid play of Stocker will be reflected in his goals against average, which pre-game was 1.33.

Mass Maple Leafs' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Junior Bruins power plays. Mass Maple Leafs forced Junior Bruins goalie Shane Benjamin to work between the pipes, taking 31 shots.

Mass Maple Leafs also got points from Evan Marek, who also had one goal and one assist. Mass Maple Leafs also got a goal from Adam McGrath as well. Other players who recorded assists for Mass Maple Leafs were Kurtis Garcia, Rick Loveless, and Jacob Dyl, who contributed one a piece.

Junior Bruins' offense rang up 31 shots on Mass Maple Leafs' net. Junior Bruins could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 16 minutes in penalties during the game.

Junior Bruins was led by Cody Williams, who scored the team's only goal. Williams scored 6:13 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Junior Bruins. Daniel Resop picked up the assist.

Mass Maple Leafs incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Benjamin rejected 27 shots on goal for Junior Bruins.
