Fernandes' big game bests Suffolk Juniors in 10-2 Mass Maple Leafs winBrewster Ice Arena Sun, Mar 04, 2012 Story by Narrative Science.
Mass Maple Leafs' Joseph Fernandes had a big offensive game, scoring two goals and contributing three assists in his team's 10-2 win over Suffolk Juniors. Fernandes found the back of the net short handed 9:49 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Mass Maple Leafs and again while 7:01 into the second to make the score 3-1 Mass Maple Leafs.The win gave Mass Maple Leafs a 1-0 lead in the best of one series. Suffolk Juniors was doomed by its poor performance on special teams, as Mass Maple Leafs was able to score four times while on the power play. Mass Maple Leafs' offense rang up 35 shots on Suffolk Juniors' net. Mass Maple Leafs struggled to stay out of the sin bin throughout the game as it finished the game with 22 penalty minutes for nine opposing power plays. Mass Maple Leafs also got points from Colin Cordeiro, who also racked up two goals and one assist, Samuel Jenkins, who also had one goal and one assist, Evan Marek, who also registered two goals and one assist, and Brandon Person, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Adam McGrath also scored for Mass Maple Leafs. Other players who recorded assists for Mass Maple Leafs were Kurtis Garcia, Craig Parry, Donald Hesse, Sidney Thomas, and Keanen Romero, who each chipped in one. Suffolk Juniors kept Mass Maple Leafs' goalie busy throughout the game, and Hesse made 30 saves on 32 shots. Suffolk Juniors was hit hard by penalties in the contest, and totaled 11 minors and two majors for 52 minutes in penalty time. Suffolk Juniors was helped by Brett Kaiser, who tallied one goal. Kaiser scored short handed 12:06 into the second period to make the score 4-2 Mass Maple Leafs. Suffolk Juniors played down a man on William Dresch's hooking. Cameron Smith picked up the assist. Suffolk Juniors also got a goal from Chris Stemke as well. In addition, Suffolk Juniors received assists from Daniel Monahan and Christopher Seeback, who contributed one a piece. Anthony Pupplo recorded 25 saves for Suffolk Juniors. |
