Junior Bruins rips Jersey Wildcats, 6-2

Junior Bruins had a two-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 6-2 win over Jersey Wildcats.

The win gave Junior Bruins a 1-0 lead in the best of one series.

Junior Bruins got the win on the strength of a great game by Robert Houghton, who had two goals and one assist. Houghton scored the first of his two goals at 7:07 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Junior Bruins. Gabe Lamontagne assisted on the tally. Houghton's next tally made the score 2-0 Junior Bruins with 10:46 left in the second period. Henry Fairbairn picked up the assist.

Junior Bruins put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Jersey Wildcats to score on any of its five power plays. Junior Bruins' offense rang up 45 shots on Jersey Wildcats' net.

Junior Bruins additionally got points from Steve Iacaboni, who also grabbed one goal and one assist and Cam Leary, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Junior Bruins also got a goal from Mike Kantorski as well. Other players who recorded assists for Junior Bruins were Zach Sandonato, who had two and Alex Duplessie, Nelson Pulling, and Hayden Voss, who each chipped in one.

Jersey Wildcats found itself stymied offensively, and got off a mere 14 shots against Junior Bruins' defense.

Jersey Wildcats was led by James Trenkle, who registered one goal. Trenkle scored 13:55 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Junior Bruins. Austin Nye assisted on the tally. Ryan Morse also scored for Jersey Wildcats. More assists for Jersey Wildcats came via Nicholas Skerlick and Geoffrey Smith, who contributed one a piece.

Junior Bruins' Peter Kraemer stopped 12 shots out of the 14 that he faced. Junior Bruins incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Grant Perry recorded 39 saves for Jersey Wildcats. Jersey Wildcats incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
