Suffolk Juniors outlasts Jersey Wildcats, 5-3

Suffolk Juniors and Jersey Wildcats were evenly matched throughout their contest, but Suffolk Juniors made the most of its opportunities and won, 5-3.

Each team kept the other at bay throughout the game, and Chris Stemke secured the win for Suffolk Juniors with a goal in the second period.

The win gave Suffolk Juniors a 1-0 lead in the best of one series.

Brian Kesler had a great game for Suffolk Juniors, netting two goals. Kesler's tallies came at 4:30 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Suffolk Juniors and 47 seconds into the third to make the score 4-2 Suffolk Juniors.

Suffolk Juniors' penalty kill excelled, as Suffolk Juniors gave up one goal despite allowing six power plays.

Suffolk Juniors forced Jersey Wildcats goalie Grant Perry to work between the pipes, taking 39 shots. Suffolk Juniors was often in penalty trouble, as it ended with nine minors and one major for 33 minutes in penalty time.

Suffolk Juniors also got points from Christopher Seeback, who also racked up one goal and two assists. Suffolk Juniors also got a goal from Alex Posillico as well. Other players who recorded assists for Suffolk Juniors were William Dresch, Brian Tumolo, and Brett Kaiser, who contributed one a piece.

Jersey Wildcats' offense rang up 42 shots on Suffolk Juniors' net. Jersey Wildcats' penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as Jersey Wildcats finished with 30 penalty minutes.

Jersey Wildcats was helped by Matthew Sangalli, who had one goal. Sangalli scored 16:31 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Suffolk Juniors. Jersey Wildcats additionally got points from Nicholas Skerlick, who also registered one goal and one assist. Ryan Morse also scored for Jersey Wildcats. In addition, Jersey Wildcats received assists from Joseph Rametta, who had one.

Suffolk Juniors' Anthony Pupplo stopped 39 shots out of the 42 that he faced. Suffolk Juniors registered one goal on six power play opportunities. Suffolk Juniors ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Thomas McGregor was ejected from the game. Perry rejected 34 shots on goal for Jersey Wildcats.
