Mastrogiacomo stymies New England Huskies, New Hampshire Jr Monarchs wins 2-1

Mike Mastrogiacomo had a standout game with 29 saves, and New Hampshire Jr Monarchs beat New England Huskies 2-1.

The win gave New Hampshire Jr Monarchs a 1-0 lead in the best of one series.

New England Huskies' power play was ineffective against New Hampshire Jr Monarchs' penalty kill, which allowed one goal while shorthanded.

New Hampshire Jr Monarchs was led by Connor Merrick, who finished with one goal. Merrick scored on the power play 9:20 into the third period to make the score 2-1 New Hampshire Jr Monarchs. New Hampshire Jr Monarchs had gotten the advantage when New England Huskies' Shannon Thomas was sent off for charging. Peter Christie picked up the assist.

New England Huskies was unable to stop New Hampshire Jr Monarchs from sending pucks towards the net, and New Hampshire Jr Monarchs eventually piled up 42 shots on goal. New Hampshire Jr Monarchs could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 16 minutes in penalties during the game.

Colin Morrissey also scored for New Hampshire Jr Monarchs. More assists for New Hampshire Jr Monarchs came via Timothy Ward, who had one.

New England Huskies was led by Thomas Labore, who scored the team's only goal. Labore scored on the power play 35 seconds into the first period to make the score 1-0 New England Huskies. A unsportsmanlike conduct penalty on Michael Auriemma had put New England Huskies on the power play. Dustin Paquette assisted on the tally.

New Hampshire Jr Monarchs registered one goal on six power play opportunities. Benjamin Gagnon made 40 saves for New England Huskies on 42 shots. New England Huskies ended with 21 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major. New England Huskies ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Thomas was ejected from the game.
