Brewster Bulldogs survives Jersey Wildcats comeback, wins 4-3

Jersey Wildcats tried its best to erase a two-goal deficit, but Brewster Bulldogs would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 4-3.

Brewster Bulldogs took a 4-2 lead during the third period, only to have Jersey Wildcats storm back on a Austin Nye goal 12:00 into the third period to pull to one goal down.

The win gave Brewster Bulldogs a 1-0 lead in the best of one series.

Michael Benincasa had two goals and one assist to lead Brewster Bulldogs. Benincasa scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 10:34 into the second period to make the score 2-2. Brewster Bulldogs had taken the advantage when Jersey Wildcats' Gage Malinowski got sent off for boarding. John Garro assisted on the tally. Benincasa's next tally on the power play made the score Brewster Bulldogs with 19:22 left in the third period. Garro provided the assist.

Brewster Bulldogs also got a goal from Taylor Folchetti as well. Other players who recorded assists for Brewster Bulldogs were Richard Folchetti, Sean Henderson, and Ryan Harker, who contributed one a piece.

Jersey Wildcats kept Brewster Bulldogs' goalie busy throughout the game, and Brandon Belz made 38 saves on 41 shots.

Martin Rovnak also scored for Jersey Wildcats. More assists for Jersey Wildcats came via Michael Root, who had one.

Brewster Bulldogs incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Grant Perry made 14 saves for Jersey Wildcats on 18 shots. Jersey Wildcats incurred 50 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
