New England Huskies had a three-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 5-1 win over New York Apple Core. The win gave New England Huskies a 1-0 lead in the best of one series. New England Huskies got the win thanks to a great game by Dustin Paquette, who had one goal and two assists. Paquette scored 9:02 into the first period to make the score 2-0 New England Huskies. Chris Gravelle assisted on the tally. New England Huskies was led by goalie Benjamin Gagnon, who finished with 34 saves while allowing one goal. Despite the solid performance, Gagnon will actually see his goals against average rise, as it stood at 1.0 entering the contest. New England Huskies stifled New York Apple Core's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. New England Huskies also got points from Keith Barnaby, who also had one goal and one assist. Others who scored for New England Huskies included Shannon Thomas, who had one and Eddie Barrasso, who had two. More assists for New England Huskies came via Thomas Labore, who had one. New York Apple Core put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow New England Huskies to score on any of its four power plays. New York Apple Core forced New England Huskies goalie Gagnon to work between the pipes, taking 35 shots. New York Apple Core was led by Matthew Cohen, who scored the team's only goal. Cohen scored 11:48 into the second period to make the score 4-1 New England Huskies. James Loglisci picked up the assist. New England Huskies incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. New York Apple Core's starting goalie, Matthew Almengor, made 11 saves and finished with the loss before he was taken out in favor of Mark Zapson, who stopped eight shots. New York Apple Core incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
