Fernandes nets hat trick, leads Mass Maple Leafs to 4-1 win over New Hampshire Jr Monarchs

Joseph Fernandes lifted Mass Maple Leafs to a 4-1 victory with a hat trick against New Hampshire Jr Monarchs.

Fernandes' first goal came 6:39 into the second period. He then added goals at 18:12 into the third and at 19:38 into the third.

The win gave Mass Maple Leafs a 1-0 lead in the best of one series.

Mass Maple Leafs' Cody Stocker was a brick wall in net, as he came up with 31 saves and let only one puck past him. Stocker managed to improve on his goals against average, which stood at 1.33 prior to the game.

Mass Maple Leafs' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three New Hampshire Jr Monarchs power plays. Mass Maple Leafs forced New Hampshire Jr Monarchs goalie Nick Deery to work between the pipes, taking 39 shots.

Mass Maple Leafs also got a goal from Adam McGrath as well. More assists for Mass Maple Leafs came via Samuel Jenkins, Evan Marek, and Rick Loveless, who contributed one a piece.

New Hampshire Jr Monarchs excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances. New Hampshire Jr Monarchs' offense rang up 32 shots on Mass Maple Leafs' net.

New Hampshire Jr Monarchs was led by Colin Morrissey, who scored the team's only goal. Morrissey scored 3:48 into the first period to make the score 1-0 New Hampshire Jr Monarchs. Brett Boyer picked up the assist.

Mass Maple Leafs incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors. Deery recorded 35 saves for New Hampshire Jr Monarchs. New Hampshire Jr Monarchs incurred 32 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
