Mooretown downs Belle River in overtime, 4-3 (OT)

The Mooretown Flags pulled out a 4-3 (OT) overtime victory over the Belle River Canadiens on a clutch goal by Mike Burns.

After the loss made the series score 3-1 in the best of seven series, Belle River faces elimination next time out.

Andrew Sokol was all over the ice for Mooretown, as he tallied two goals and one assist in the win. Sokol scored the first of his two goals at 3:36 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Mooretown. Dan Lumley picked up the assist. Sokol's next tally made the score 3-3 with 17:27 left in the third period. The Flags had gotten the advantage when the Canadiens' Robert Ienna was sent off for slashing. Burns assisted on the tally.

Mooretown excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. The Flags forced Belle River goalie Zakk Olvin to work between the pipes, taking 39 shots.

Jeff Schroeter also scored for Mooretown. More assists for Mooretown came via Jake Currie, who had two and Josh Teschke and Travis Mullen, who contributed one a piece.

The Canadiens kept Mooretown's goalie busy throughout the game, and Andrew Ganter made 35 saves on 38 shots.

Belle River was helped by Nik Dobrich, who racked up one goal. Dobrich scored 11:03 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Mooretown. Richard Dunning picked up the assist. Belle River also got a goal from Mike Ditty as well. In addition, Belle River received assists from Jason Koumaris, who had one.

The Flags totaled 11 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major and went 1-for-2 on the power play. For Mooretown, Calab Harse was ejected from the game. Zakk Olvin made 35 saves for the Canadiens on 39 shots. Belle River ended with nine minutes in penalty time with two minors and one major. The Canadiens ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Dylan Impens was ejected from the game.
