Potomac Patriots falls to Syracuse Stars in overtime, 4-3 (OT)

The Syracuse Stars Junior Stars' Alex Tuch scored 1:16 into overtime to beat the Potomac Patriots Patriots, 4-3 (OT).

The win gave Syracuse Stars a 1-0 lead in the best of one series.

The Junior Stars were led by Tuch, who racked up one goal and one assist.

Syracuse Stars' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Potomac Patriots power plays. The Junior Stars forced Potomac Patriots goalie Dustyn Moyer to work between the pipes, taking 54 shots.

Erik Kurz also scored for Syracuse Stars. Other players who recorded assists for Syracuse Stars were Trenton Yule, Alex Brink, Anthony Eno, Jesse Farabee, Benjamin Engelbrekt, and Jeremy Marginsky, who contributed one a piece.

The Patriots' offense rang up 32 shots on Syracuse Stars' net. Potomac Patriots did not rack up many penalties in the contest, totaling only one minor for two minutes in penalty time.

The Patriots were helped by Alexander Grose, who finished with one goal. Grose scored short handed 10:32 into the third period to make the score 3-3. Michael Carr provided the assist. Potomac Patriots also got a goal from Andrew Turgeon as well. In addition, Potomac Patriots received assists from Peter Wydler and Seve Cordova, who each chipped in one.

The Junior Stars' Nate Skidmore stopped 29 shots out of the 32 that he faced. Syracuse Stars incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Moyer recorded 50 saves for Potomac Patriots.
