McCarran's hat trick boosts New Hampshire Jr Monarchs over Springfield Pics, 8-4

Teddy McCarran lifted New Hampshire Jr Monarchs to an 8-4 victory with a hat trick against the Springfield Pics Pics.

McCarran got on the scoresheet 16:04 into the first period. He then added goals at 2:21 into the second and at 8:13 into the second.

The win gave New Hampshire Jr Monarchs a 1-0 lead in the best of one series.

Springfield Pics' power play was ineffective against New Hampshire Jr Monarchs' penalty kill, which allowed zero goals while shorthanded.

The New Hampshire Jr Monarchs penalty box was a busy place as the team totaled nine minors and one major for 33 minutes in penalty time. New Hampshire Jr Monarchs had been averaging 20 minutes in penalties per game. New Hampshire Jr Monarchs made the Pics' netminders to work between the pipes, ripping 52 shots and forcing 44 saves. Evan Moorehouse made 31 stops and John Howell made 13. New Hampshire Jr Monarchs excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in seven chances.

New Hampshire Jr Monarchs additionally got points from Luke Bennett, who also finished with one goal and one assist, Kyle LaJeunesse, who also racked up one goal and one assist, and Taylor Vincent, who also tallied one goal and one assist. New Hampshire Jr Monarchs got a goal from Brent Beaudoin as well. More assists for New Hampshire Jr Monarchs came via Dylan Rothenberger, who had two and Christopher Zuccaro, Paul Pirozzo, Lukas Audycki, Kevin Miner, and David Horan, who contributed one each.

Springfield Pics forced New Hampshire Jr Monarchs goalie Alex Devine to work between the pipes, taking 35 shots.

Andrew Provost also scored for Springfield Pics. In addition, Springfield Pics received assists from Christopher Sattler, Jeremy Wich, and Alec Robinson, who each chipped in one.

Devine turned away 31 pucks between the pipes for New Hampshire Jr Monarchs. New Hampshire Jr Monarchs registered one goal on three power play opportunities. Springfield Pics ended with 48 minutes in penalty time with four minors and two majors.
