New England Huskies outlasts Green Mountain Glades, 3-2

New England Huskies and the Green Mountain Glades Glades were evenly matched throughout their contest, but New England Huskies made the most of its opportunities and won, 3-2.

New England Huskies gained the winning advantage on a goal by Kurt Johnson 16:09 into the third period and hung on until final buzzer.

The win gave New England Huskies a 1-0 lead in the best of one series.

New England Huskies was led by Johnson, who tallied one goal.

New England Huskies stifled Green Mountain Glades' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Glades were unable to stop New England Huskies from sending pucks towards the net, and New England Huskies eventually piled up 45 shots on goal.

Matt Pilanski also scored for New England Huskies. Other players who recorded assists for New England Huskies were Brendan Flanagan, who had two and Lee Vandergraaf, Shane Dowd, David Sweet, and Zach DErrico, who each chipped in one.

Green Mountain Glades put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow New England Huskies to score on any of its five power plays. The Glades forced New England Huskies goalie Graham Hunt to work between the pipes, taking 32 shots. Green Mountain Glades could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 14 minutes in penalties during the game. The leading offender was Victor Ivarsson, who totaled four minutes in penalty time with two minors.

The Glades were helped by Colby Laperle, who racked up one goal. Laperle scored 12:28 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Green Mountain Glades. Justin Ward assisted on the tally. Green Mountain Glades got a goal from Seth Adams as well. In addition, Green Mountain Glades received assists from Zachary Bakotic, Hudson Corbett, and Haralds Egle, who contributed one each.

Hunt recorded 30 saves for New England Huskies. New England Huskies incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Green Mountain Glades' Brandon Bechard stopped 42 shots out of the 45 that he faced. The Glades registered zero goals on three power play opportunities.
