The Markham Waxers relied on the sparkling performance of Chris Perugini in net to grab a 2-1 win against the Newmarket Hurricanes. The win moved Markham to down 2-1 in the best of seven series. The Waxers were paced by Patrick Stillar, who tallied one goal. Stillar scored 18:14 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Markham. Alex Leader picked up the assist. Markham's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Newmarket power plays. Markham got a goal from Jamie Kendra as well. More assists for Markham came via Sammy Banga, who had one. The Waxers were unable to stop Newmarket from sending pucks towards the net, and the Hurricanes eventually piled up 45 shots on goal. Newmarket was led by Tyson LeBlanc, who scored the team's only goal. LeBlanc scored 16:13 into the third period to make the score 1-1. Austin Rigney provided the assist. Markham's Perugini stopped 44 shots out of the 45 that he faced. The Waxers incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Matthew Wintjes made 22 saves for the Hurricanes on 24 shots.
