Delhi completes comeback, beats Norfolk, 8-6

The Delhi Travellers climbed out of a three-goal hole to beat the Norfolk Rebels, 8-6.

Delhi let multiple leads slip away before eventually digging out of a three hole to pick up the win. The Travellers took a 6-5 advantage on a goal by Jake Legein at 8:32 in the third period. Delhi went down 5-2 after Norfolk's Kurtis Pettitt put the puck home short handed at 3:52 in the second period. After knotting things up at 6-6 on a goal by Dave Matthews at 10:13 in the third, the Travellers got the game-winner from Jake Durrant at 13:57 in the third period.

Nathan Moyaert had two goals and three assists to lead Delhi. Moyaert scored the first of his two goals at 7:38 into the second period to make the score 5-3 Norfolk. Mike DeCoene assisted on the tally. Moyaert's next tally made the score 8-6 Delhi with 35 seconds left in the third period. The Travellers had gained a power play chance when Matt Vansickle was whistled for roughing. Legein provided the assist.

The Rebels were unable to stop Delhi from sending pucks towards the net, and the Travellers eventually piled up 44 shots on goal. Delhi found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. The Travellers average five goals per game.

The leading offender was Andrew Patenaude, who totaled four minutes in penalty time with two minors.

Norfolk was helped by Ryan Richards, who grabbed one goal and one assist. Richards scored 1:49 into the second period to make the score 4-2 Norfolk. Adam Kannawin assisted on the tally. Norfolk additionally got points from Brad Hornby, who also registered one goal and one assist. Norfolk got a goal from Chris Murray as well. Other players who recorded assists for Norfolk were Nick Smith, Jason Mummery, and Steve Parker, who contributed one each.
