Huge game by Pye boosts Tavistock over St. George, 6-3

Darrin Pye had two goals and one assist to lead the Tavistock Braves to a 6-3 victory over the St. George Dukes.

Pye scored at 16:56 into the second period to make the score 2-2 and again while 12:18 into the third to make the score 5-2 Tavistock.

With the win, Tavistock evened the series at 1-1 in the best of seven showdown.

St. George's power play was ineffective against the Braves' penalty kill, which allowed zero goals while shorthanded.

Tavistock excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in seven chances. The Dukes were unable to stop the Braves from sending pucks towards the net, and Tavistock eventually piled up 46 shots on goal. The Braves' defensemen played an important role in the offense, as they chipped in four goals.

St. George's offense efficiently hummed along to the tune of 38 shots put on Tavistock's net.

Tavistock additionally got points from Josh Bobyk, who also finished with one goal and one assist, Sean Leslie, who also racked up one goal and one assist, and James McCorquodale, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Tavistock got a goal from Josh Zehr as well. In addition, Tavistock received assists from Jeremy Munro, Nick Quehl, Josh Wagler, and Andrew Schacht, who contributed one each and Blair Mackay and Charlie Rowland, who each chipped in two.

The Dukes were helped by Josh Wrobel, who grabbed one goal. Wrobel scored 4:51 into the second period to make the score 2-1 St. George. Jamie Snow assisted on the tally. The Braves stifled St. George's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Tavistock was forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as it racked up 14 penalty minutes. The leading offender was Rowland, who totaled four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
