Lambeth rides Trudell to victory over Port Stanley, 2-1

A stellar performance between the pipes by JP Trudell helped the Lambeth Lancers defeat the Port Stanley Sailors, 2-1.

The win by Lambeth clinched the best of seven series at 4-1.

Port Stanley's power play was ineffective against the Lancers' penalty kill, which allowed one goal while shorthanded.

Both teams had a hard time staying out of the box, and they combined for 16 penalties during the game.

Lambeth's offense operated below it season average. The Lancers put an average of four pucks into the net per game. Lambeth's penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as the Lancers finished with 28 penalty minutes.

Lambeth was helped by Conor Chilvers, who finished with one goal. Chilvers scored 13:56 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Lambeth. Mike Golinowski provided the assist. Lambeth got a goal from Tanner Smith as well. Other players who recorded assists for Lambeth were Mitch Furlonger and Greg Douglas, who each chipped in one.

The Sailors' offense efficiently hummed along to the tune of 31 shots put on the Lancers' net. Port Stanley could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 24 minutes in penalties during the game.

The Sailors were led by Luke McGuire, who scored the team's only goal. McGuire scored on the power play 4:08 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Port Stanley earned a power play opportunity when Chilvers was put in the box for interference. Mark Fraser assisted on the tally.

JP Trudell made 30 saves for Lambeth on 31 shots. The Lancers registered one goal on six power play opportunities. Kyle Parker recorded 28 saves for the Sailors.
