West leads Lambeth over Port Stanley, 5-1

The Lambeth Lancers' Nick West had a big offensive game, scoring two goals and contributing one assist in his team's 5-1 win over the Port Stanley Sailors.

West scored at 8:11 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Lambeth and again while on the power play 50 seconds into the third to make the score 4-1 Lambeth.

The win by Lambeth broke a deadlock and gave the Lancers a 2-1 advantage in the best of seven series.

Lambeth's JP Trudell was a brick wall in net, as he came up with 34 saves and let only one puck past him. Trudell managed to improve on his goals against average, which stood at 2.69 prior to the game.

The Lancers had trouble staying out of the sin bin throughout the game as they finished the game with 16 penalty minutes for seven opposing power plays. The leading offender was Kyle Murphy, who totaled four minutes in penalty time with two minors.

Lambeth additionally got points from Mitch Furlonger, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Mitch Thomas also scored for Lambeth. Other players who recorded assists for Lambeth were Tanner Smith, who had two and Andrew Burness, Brandon Robbins, Tyson Corkum, and Anthony Sachetti, who contributed one each.

Port Stanley's offense efficiently hummed along to the tune of 35 shots put on Lambeth's net.

The Sailors were led by Evan Blewett, who scored the team's only goal. Blewett scored on the power play 16:33 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Lambeth. Port Stanley had taken the advantage when the Lancers' Ryan Pennington got sent off for cross checking. Mark Fraser picked up the assist.

Lambeth registered one goal on five power play opportunities. The Sailors' Brandon Garner stopped 24 shots out of the 29 that he faced. Port Stanley incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
