Pickering squeaks by Toronto Lakeshore, 4-2

In a game where neither team could get a cushion, the Pickering Panthers escaped with a 4-2 victory over the Toronto Lakeshore Patriots.

Pickering gained the winning advantage on a goal by Kyle Davis 1:48 into the third period and hung on until final buzzer.

The win moved the Panthers to down 1-0 in the best of five series.

Sean Levac had two goals to lead Pickering to victory. Levac found the back of the net on the power play 12:55 into the second period to make the score 2-2 and again while 18:38 into the third to make the score 4-2 Pickering.

The Panthers' offense efficiently hummed along to the tune of 32 shots put on Toronto Lakeshore's net.

Andrew Medico also scored for Pickering. In addition, Pickering received assists from Nicholas Popelar, who had two and Cody Doiron, Matteo Baldassarra, Tanner Bull, Mike Sicilia, Taylor Pryce, and Andrew McCann, who each chipped in one.

The Patriots were held below their usual level of production. Toronto Lakeshore averages four goals per game. Pickering was unable to stop the Patriots from sending pucks towards the net, and Toronto Lakeshore eventually piled up 37 shots on goal.

The Patriots were helped by Robbie Murden, who had one goal. Murden scored 6:10 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Kyle Dutra assisted on the tally. Toronto Lakeshore got a goal from Brandon Willett as well. More assists for Toronto Lakeshore came via Shane Cavalieri, Doug Bonar, and Brody Heleno, who contributed one each.

Spencer Bacon recorded 35 saves for the Panthers. Pickering incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. Joseph Pianta made 28 saves for Toronto Lakeshore on 31 shots. The Patriots incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
