Port Hope survives Napanee comeback, wins 4-3

The Port Hope Panthers survived a determined comeback attempt by the Napanee Raiders on the way to a 4-3 win.

A goal by Tyler Park put Port Hope up 4-1 in the second period, but Napanee pulled to within one on Donny Emmons' tally 8:44 into the third period.

After the loss made the series score 2-0 in the best of five series, the Raiders faces elimination next time out.

Park was all over the ice for the Panthers, as he had two goals in the win.

Port Hope made opposing goaltenders to work between the pipes, ripping 40 shots and forcing 36 saves. Kyle Copeland made 10 stops and Brad Green made 26. The Panthers took advantage of Napanee's penalties, tallying two goals off of three power play opportunities.

Port Hope got a goal from Ryan Thistlethwaite as well. More assists for Port Hope came via Josh Fulford, who had two and Thomas Garrity, Matt Garner, Josh Fagan, and Caleb Oliver, who contributed one each.

The Raiders kept Port Hope's goalie busy throughout the game, and DJ Torrenueva made 37 saves on 40 shots.

Napanee also got points from Emmons, who also registered one goal and one assist. Luke Emmons also scored for Napanee. In addition, Napanee received assists from John Janiec, Colin Doelman, Taylor Brown, Paul Fortin, and Adam Shulist, who each chipped in one.

The Panthers incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Napanee incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
