Iowa State University pulled out a 4-3 (OT) overtime victory over Southern Connecticut on a clutch goal by Jordan Calpus.

Iowa State University overcame a two-goal deficit to capture the victory. Iowa State University was down 2-0 after a power play goal by Southern Connecticut's Anthony Dercole at eight seconds in the third period. Iowa State University tied things up at 3-3 on a goal by Johnny Domina at 17:13 in the third period.

Iowa State University was led by Calpus, who registered one goal. Calpus scored on the power play 48 seconds into overtime to make the score 4-3 Iowa State University. Iowa State University had gotten the advantage when Southern Connecticut's Kyle Amarone was sent off for cross checking.

The defensemen of Iowa State University were also effective in Southern Connecticut's zone, and came away with two goals.

Iowa State University also got points from Kinsey Cornick, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Murphy Gillogly also scored for Iowa State University. In addition, Iowa State University received assists from Michael Scebold, who had two and Martin Janecke and Mason Uvodich, who contributed one a piece.

Southern Connecticut forced Iowa State University goalie Scott Ismond to work between the pipes, taking 44 shots. Southern Connecticut could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 14 minutes in penalties during the game.

Southern Connecticut was helped by Nik Bakos, who tallied one goal. Bakos scored 7:42 into the third period to make the score 3-2 Southern Connecticut. Joe Lion assisted on the tally. Southern Connecticut also got a goal from Joe Innamarato as well. Ismond recorded 41 saves for Iowa State University. Iowa State University totaled 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors and two majors and went 2-for-7 on the power play. Southern Connecticut's Shayne OBrien stopped 26 shots out of the 30 that he faced. Southern Connecticut registered one goal on five power play opportunities.
