Iowa State University survives Saginaw Valley comeback, wins 3-2

Iowa State University survived a determined comeback attempt by Saginaw Valley on the way to a 3-2 win.

Iowa State University took a 3-0 lead during the third period, only to have Saginaw Valley storm back on a Robert Cathcart goal 9:49 into the third period to pull to one goal down.

Iowa State University's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Saginaw Valley power plays.

Iowa State University was led by Kean Ludvicek, who grabbed one goal and one assist. Ludvicek scored 19:57 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Iowa State University. Matt Johnson also scored for Iowa State University. More assists for Iowa State University came via Kinsey Cornick, who had one.

Saginaw Valley kept Iowa State University's goalie busy throughout the game, and Scott Ismond made 44 saves on 46 shots.

Saginaw Valley also got a goal from Chris Tibaudo as well. Other players who recorded assists for Saginaw Valley were Matt Johnson, who had one and Zach Soulliare, who had two.

Iowa State University incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors and had no power play opportunities. Saginaw Valley's Joe Kirkland stopped 22 shots out of the 25 that he faced.
