Cal U of PA beats Hope College 4-3 after comeback scare

Hope College tried to dig itself out of a two-goal hole, but Cal U of PA held on for a 4-3 victory.

Cal U of PA made the score 4-2 on a goal by Kevin Claybaugh at 52 seconds in the third period, and Hope College got as close as 4-3 when Rilechy Hoernschemeyer scored 1:54 into the third period.

In the losing effort, Hope College was sparked by Hoernschemeyer, who had two goals. Hoernschemeyer scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 14:24 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Hope College. A holding penalty on Mitch Faust had put Hope College on the power play. Caleb Digison picked up the assist. Hoernschemeyer's next tally on the power play made the score Cal U of PA with 18:06 left in the third period.

Cal U of PA could not produce up to it normal offensive output. Cal U of PA averages 6.3 goals per game. Cal U of PA found itself short handed often, totaling 24 penalty minutes and allowing 10 power plays.
