Davenport University rips University of Central Florida, 9-3

Davenport University's Mike Soto had a big offensive game, scoring two goals and contributing two assists in his team's 9-3 win over University of Central Florida.

Soto's tallies came on the power play at 10:52 into the second period to make the score 4-1 Davenport University and short handed 7:55 into the third to make the score 7-1 Davenport University.

Davenport University pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 16 penalty minutes.

Davenport University forced University of Central Florida goalie Tony Planamento to work between the pipes, taking 65 shots. Davenport University was held back by its power play unit, which tallied two goals on 11 chances.

Davenport University also got points from Garrett Russell, who also racked up one goal and one assist, Zachary Bodziak, who also tallied one goal and one assist, and Chad Ouellette, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Davenport University also got a goal from Bryon Guerin as well. In addition, Davenport University received assists from John Brooks, who had two and Sam Waldhart, who had four.

University of Central Florida racked up the penalties in the contest, and ended with 11 minors and one major for 27 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 22.0 minutes per game University of Central Florida had been spending in the box.

University of Central Florida was led by Connor Cafferty, who tallied two goals and one assist. Cafferty scored the first of his two goals at 3:30 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Davenport University. Cafferty's next tally made the score 8-3 Davenport University with 54 seconds left in the third period. Josh Drazin assisted on the tally. Other players who recorded assists for University of Central Florida were Jake Ninko, who had one.

Andrew Habasevich rejected 22 shots on goal for Davenport University. University of Central Florida's Planamento stopped 56 shots out of the 65 that he faced. University of Central Florida registered one goal on six power play opportunities.
