Blenheim shrugs off penalties, upends Dresden, 6-3Blenheim Memorial Arena Fri, Feb 17, 2012 Story by Narrative Science.
Despite having to fight off several power plays, the Blenheim Blades were able to defeat the Dresden Kings, 6-3. The win moved Blenheim to down 2-1 in the best of seven series. The Blades had trouble staying out of the sin bin throughout the game as they finished the game with 26 penalty minutes for eight opposing power plays. The leading offender was Neven Wiebenga, who totaled 16 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one misconduct. Blenheim was led by Justin Rossignol, who grabbed two goals. Rossignol scored the first of his two goals at 9:23 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Blenheim. Thomas Innes provided the assist. Rossignol's next tally made the score 6-3 Blenheim with 37 seconds left in the third period. Sean MacDonald assisted on the tally. Blenheim got a goal from Taylor Phillips as well. Other players who recorded assists for Blenheim were Matt Fleury and Trevor Sparks, who each chipped in one and Bowe Shepley and Andrew France, who contributed two each. The Kings had taken the advantage when Blenheim's Tyler Clarke got sent off for too many men. Jesse Allen provided the assist.
