Jersey Wildcats beats Philadelphia Revolution 6-4 after comeback scare

Jersey Wildcats survived a determined comeback attempt by Philadelphia Revolution on the way to a 6-4 win.

A goal by Joseph Curto put Jersey Wildcats up 6-1 in the second period, but Philadelphia Revolution pulled to within two on Johnathon Rosica's tally 8:19 into the third period.

Both teams had a hard time staying out of the box, and they combined for 17 penalties during the game.

Jersey Wildcats' offense efficiently hummed along to the tune of 41 shots put on Philadelphia Revolution's net. Jersey Wildcats' goal total was higher than its season average. Jersey Wildcats has scored at the pace of three goals per game during the current campaign. Jersey Wildcats had trouble converting on the power play advantage, managing just one goal on nine chances. Jersey Wildcats could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 16 minutes in penalties during the game. The leading offender was Ryan Gecawich, who totaled two minutes in penalty time with one minor.

Jersey Wildcats additionally got points from Michael Root, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. James Trenkle also scored for Jersey Wildcats. In addition, Jersey Wildcats received assists from Nicholas Hermann, who had one.

Philadelphia Revolution kept Jersey Wildcats' goalie busy throughout the game, and Grant Perry made 31 saves on 35 shots. Philadelphia Revolution's defensemen played an important role in the offense, as they chipped in two goals. Philadelphia Revolution could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 18 minutes in penalties during the game. The leading offender was Andrew Manogue, who totaled six minutes in penalty time with three minors.

Philadelphia Revolution was led by Vincent Rosica, who finished with two goals. Rosica scored the first of his two goals at 7:21 into the second period to make the score 4-1 Jersey Wildcats. Manogue assisted on the tally. Rosica's next tally made the score 6-2 Jersey Wildcats with 17:55 left in the third period. Steve Donovan picked up the assist. Philadelphia Revolution got a goal from Connor Higgins as well. Other players who recorded assists for Philadelphia Revolution were Scott Parker, who had one.

Philadelphia Revolution's Jake Wolff stopped 35 shots out of the 41 that he faced. Philadelphia Revolution registered two goals on eight power play opportunities.
