The Chicago Jr Bulldogs were firing on all cylinders against the Motor City Chiefs, and when the final buzzer sounded Jr Bulldogs emerged with a 5-1 win. The win gave Chicago a 1-0 lead in the best of one series. Motor City was stymied by the Jr Bulldogs netminder Lee Satran, who stopped 33 shots during the victory. The solid play of Satran will be reflected in his goals against average, which pre-game was 3.0. Chicago was sparked by Adamson Thoma, who tallied one goal. Thoma scored 3:11 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Chicago. Colin McAuliffe provided the assist. The Jr Bulldogs kept the Chiefs' goalie busy throughout the game, and Brian Ellis made 33 saves on 38 shots. Chicago also had goals scored by Peter Jorgensen, who had one and Daniel Doyle, who had three. More assists for Chicago came via Vittorio Bruno, James Bohne, and Robert Gervino, who each chipped in one. Chicago was unable to stop Motor City from sending pucks towards the net, and the Chiefs eventually piled up 34 shots on goal. Motor City was led by Sean Carlock, who scored the team's only goal. Carlock scored 11:06 into the third period to make the score 3-1 Chicago. Travis McGuckin assisted on the tally. The Jr Bulldogs incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. The Chiefs incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
