NAHL 18U Selects survives West comeback, wins 4-3

West tried its best to erase a three-goal deficit, but NAHL 18U Selects would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 4-3.

A goal by Justin Woods put NAHL 18U Selects up 4-1 in the second period, but West pulled to within one on Shawn Pauly's tally 18:43 into the third period.

Chris Leibinger had one goal and two assists to lead NAHL 18U Selects. Leibinger scored 13:27 into the first period to make the score 1-0 NAHL 18U Selects. Kyle Schempp assisted on the tally.

NAHL 18U Selects made West's goaltenders to work all game long, getting 35 shots and forcing 31 saves. Greg Lewis made 16 stops and Nick Kulmanovsky made 15. NAHL 18U Selects managed to stay out of the box better than usual, registering one minor for two minutes in penalty time. NAHL 18U Selects finished below its season average of three penalty minutes per game. Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with two goals.

NAHL 18U Selects additionally got points from Jake Horton, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. NAHL 18U Selects got a goal from Pavlo Padakin as well. Other players who recorded assists for NAHL 18U Selects were Ben Bahe, CJ Smith, and Jude Warner, who contributed one each.

West kept NAHL 18U Selects' goalie busy throughout the game, and Anthony Stolarz made 33 saves on 36 shots. West did not rack up many penalties in the contest, totaling only one minor for two minutes in penalty time.

West was led by Gage Christianson, who racked up one goal and one assist. Christianson scored 16:42 into the third period to make the score 4-2 NAHL 18U Selects. JT Osborn picked up the assist. Sean ORourke also scored for West. In addition, West received assists from Pete Spratte, Wehebe Darge, Gabe Levin, and Sean Muller, who each chipped in one.

NAHL 18U Selects registered zero goals on one power play opportunities. West registered zero goals on one power play opportunities.
