BLUEWATER falls to WHITBY in overtime, 4-3 (OT)

WHITBY's Nicole Brown scored 4:57 into overtime to beat BLUEWATER, 4-3 (OT).

WHITBY was sparked by Brown, who finished with one goal and one assist.

In a losing effort, BLUEWATER was led by Leah Buress, who racked up two goals and one assist. Buress scored the first of her two goals at 14:24 into the first period to make the score 2-2. Karley Campbell picked up the assist. Buress' next tally made the score 3-3 with 8:59 left in the second period. Campbell provided the assist.

WHITBY forced BLUEWATER goalie Kayla Black to work between the pipes, taking 33 shots.

WHITBY additionally got points from Brown, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Brianna Soper also scored for WHITBY. More assists for WHITBY came via Krista Yip-Chuck, who had two and Micaela Smith, Kenya Marcelline, and Sarah Douglas, who each chipped in one.

BLUEWATER's offense efficiently hummed along to the tune of 31 shots put on WHITBY's net. BLUEWATER was forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as it racked up 14 penalty minutes. The leading offender was Cayley Mercer, who totaled four minutes in penalty time with two minors.

BLUEWATER also got points from Buress, who also grabbed two goals and one assist. Other players who recorded assists for BLUEWATER were Rebecca Kohler and Kaila Pinkney, who contributed one each.

WHITBY's Brianna Quade stopped 28 shots out of the 31 that she faced. WHITBY incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Black recorded 29 saves for BLUEWATER. BLUEWATER registered one goal on five power play opportunities.
