GAME RECAP

CAMBRIDGE survives WATERLOO comeback, wins 3-1

Kitchener Memorial Auditorium    Sun, Feb 26, 2012

WATERLOO tried to dig itself out of a three-goal hole, but CAMBRIDGE held on for a 3-1 victory.

CAMBRIDGE took a 3-0 lead during the third period, only to have WATERLOO storm back on a Carly Payerl goal 15:23 into the third period to pull to two goals down.

CAMBRIDGE's Jenna Sosnoski was a brick wall in net, as she came up with 35 saves and let only one puck past him. The solid play of Sosnoski will be reflected in her goals against average, which pre-game was 3.34.

CAMBRIDGE stifled WATERLOO's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. CAMBRIDGE could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 20 minutes in penalties during the game. The leading offender was Kate Gilkinson (A), who totaled eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.

CAMBRIDGE was helped by Jamie Lafferty, who racked up one goal. Lafferty scored 6:45 into the second period to make the score 2-0 CAMBRIDGE. Cait Woolner picked up the assist. CAMBRIDGE got a goal from Kaileigh Grant (A) as well. More assists for CAMBRIDGE came via Brooklyn Irwin, Laura Brooks, and Brittany Gillmor, who contributed one each.

WATERLOO's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on six CAMBRIDGE power plays. WATERLOO forced CAMBRIDGE goalie Sosnoski to work between the pipes, taking 36 shots.

Laura Deller recorded 18 saves for WATERLOO. WATERLOO incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors.
