Brianna Veerman(A) had two goals to lead AURORA to a 3-1 victory over STONEY CREEK. Veerman(A) scored at 5:04 into the second period to make the score 1-1 and again while 5:29 into the third to make the score 2-1 AURORA.AURORA was led by goalie Paula Voorheis, who finished with 30 saves while allowing one goal. Voorheis certainly lowered her goals against average, which was 2.18 entering the contest. STONEY CREEK's power play was ineffective against AURORA's penalty kill, which allowed zero goals while shorthanded. AURORA put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow STONEY CREEK to score on any of its seven power plays. The leading offender was Ashley Rothon, who totaled four minutes in penalty time with two minors. AURORA additionally got points from Caroline DeBruin(A), who also had one goal and two assists. More assists for AURORA came via Jessica Gillham, who had one and Bryanna Neuwald, who had two. STONEY CREEK's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three AURORA power plays. AURORA was unable to stop STONEY CREEK from sending pucks towards the net, and STONEY CREEK eventually piled up 31 shots on goal. STONEY CREEK was led by Rebecca Johnson, who scored the team's only goal. Johnson scored 1:22 into the second period to make the score 1-0 STONEY CREEK. Emilee Paron assisted on the tally. AURORA incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. Elaine Chuli recorded 23 saves for STONEY CREEK. STONEY CREEK incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
