Chatham downs LaSalle in overtime, 4-3 (OT)

The Chatham Maroons' Brett Berger scored 1:14 into overtime to beat the LaSalle Vipers, 4-3 (OT).

Chatham came back from a two-goal deficit to capture the victory. The Maroons was down 3-1 after a goal by LaSalle's Jonathan Woelk at 15:23 in the second period. Chatham knotted things up at 3-3 on a goal by Sam Studnicka at 18:14 in the third period.

Studnicka had one goal and two assists to lead the Maroons.

Chatham forced the Vipers goalie Jordan Dekort to work between the pipes, taking 36 shots.

Chatham also got points from Studnicka, who also registered one goal and two assists, Michael Verboom, who also finished with one goal and one assist, and Ian Faubert, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. More assists for Chatham came via Ian Jacobs, Eric Palazzolo, and Sean Myers, who contributed one each.

LaSalle managed to stay out of the box better than usual, registering one minor for two minutes in penalty time. The Vipers ended up below its season average of 25 penalty minutes per game.

LaSalle was helped by Matt Beaudoin, who grabbed one goal. Beaudoin scored on the power play 10:26 into the second period to make the score 2-1 LaSalle. A holding penalty on Jacobs had put the Vipers on the power play. Dylan Denomme picked up the assist. LaSalle got a goal from Tim Edwards as well. In addition, LaSalle received assists from Chad Shepley, Zack Percy, Daniel Slipchuk, Brad Carroll, and Scott Prier, who each chipped in one.

Gianluca Palmieri recorded 23 saves for the Maroons. Chatham incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Jordan Dekort made 32 saves for LaSalle on 36 shots. The Vipers registered two goals on four power play opportunities.
