Huge game by Kennedy boosts Thorold over Stoney Creek, 4-1Valley Park Arena Sat, Feb 25, 2012 Story by Narrative Science.
Colt Kennedy was all over the ice for the Thorold Blackhawks, as he tallied two goals and one assist in Thorold's 4-1 win over the Stoney Creek Warriors. Kennedy found the back of the net 17:09 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Thorold and again while 1:40 into the third to make the score 3-0 Thorold.Both teams had a hard time staying out of the box, and they combined for 17 penalties during the game. Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 2:26 into the second period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts. The Blackhawks was not heavily penalized during the game, and finished with six minors and one major totalling 17 minutes. Thorold fell short of the 25 minutes average penalties per game. The Blackhawks excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances. Thorold additionally got points from Kennedy, who also had two goals and one assist. Thorold got a goal from Greg Cerilli as well. In addition, Thorold received assists from Owen Sobchak, Taylor D`Andrea, Robert Bentavegna, Mackenzie Mac Avoy, Brandon Kerr, Tanner Pagendam, and Dan Chudobiak, who contributed one each. Stoney Creek racked up the penalties in the contest, and ended with nine minors and one major for 23 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 18 minutes per game the Warriors had been spending in the box. Stoney Creek was led by Stuart Isnor, who scored the team's only goal. Isnor scored 17:57 into the third period to make the score 3-1 Thorold. Joseph Monticchio assisted on the tally. Evan Buitenhuis made 23 saves for Thorold on 24 shots. The Blackhawks registered one goal on nine power play opportunities. Team's Anthony Scornaienchi and Gabe Ruggi were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game. Brock Novak recorded 23 saves for the Warriors. For Stoney Creek, Mike Casale and Kyle Dube were ejected from the contest.
