Sarnia completes comeback, beats Strathroy, 5-4Sarnia Arena Thu, Feb 23, 2012 Story by Narrative Science.
The Sarnia Legionnaires rallied from two goals down to secure a 5-4 win over the Strathroy Rockets. Sarnia let multiple leads slip away before eventually digging out of a two hole to pick up the win. The Legionnaires took a 1-0 advantage on a power play goal by Anthony Donati at 6:02 in the second period. Sarnia went down 4-2 after Strathroy's Justin Thomas put the puck home on the power play at 9:26 in the third period. After knotting things up at 4-4 on a goal by Daniel Nikandrov at 18:03 in the third, the Legionnaires got the game-winner from Jesse Drydak at 18:57 in the third period. Sarnia's defensemen played an important role in the offense, as they chipped in three goals. Sarnia additionally got points from Drydak, who also racked up one goal and one assist. In addition, Sarnia received assists from Evan Dixon, who had three and Jason Teschke, Michael Sollazzo, Brent Sauve, Shawn Waldie, and Louie Rowe, who contributed one each. The Legionnaires were unable to stop the Rockets from sending pucks towards the net, and Strathroy eventually piled up 36 shots on goal. Strathroy got a goal from Jordan McNaughton as well. Other players who recorded assists for Strathroy were Brian Brosnan, who had one and Davis Brown and Stuart King, who contributed two each. Kyle Washer made 32 saves for Sarnia on 36 shots. The Legionnaires incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Dalen Kuchmey turned away 23 pucks between the pipes for the Rockets. Strathroy incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
