Elliott's big game bests Buffalo in 5-0 Stoney Creek win

Brandon Elliott was all over the ice for the Stoney Creek Warriors, as he tallied two goals and one assist in Stoney Creek's 5-0 win over the Buffalo Jr. Blades.

Elliott found the back of the net 14:59 into the first period to make the score 3-0 Stoney Creek and again while 1:41 into the second to make the score 4-0 Stoney Creek.

The Warriors pulled out the victory even though they were hit with 27 penalty minutes.

Both teams had a hard time staying out of the box, and they combined for 23 penalties during the game.

Stoney Creek forced Jr. Blades' netminders to work between the pipes, launching 37 shots and forcing 32 saves. Ian Shorthouse made 13 stops and Cory Sorrento made 19. The Warriors stifled Buffalo's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man.

Stoney Creek put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Jr. Blades to score on any of their seven power plays.

Stoney Creek additionally got points from Myles Falasca, who also had one goal and two assists. Stoney Creek got a goal from Mike Casale as well. More assists for Stoney Creek came via Harry Polyoka, who had two and Brandon Vuic and Roger Sherwood, who contributed one each.

Buffalo was often in penalty trouble, totaling 10 minors and one major for 55 minutes in penalty time. The Jr. Blades surpassed its season average of 26 penalty minutes per game. Buffalo's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on 10 Stoney Creek power plays. The Jr. Blades did not reach the goal total they have come to expect this season. Buffalo puts an average of two pucks into the net per game.

Brock Novak made 18 saves for Stoney Creek on 18 shots. Team's Marco Mattina, Kyle Dube, and Max Lindsay were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game. Buffalo ran into disciplinary problems during the contest, and Brian Osieja was ejected from the game.

For the Warriors, Mattina, Dube, and Lindsay were ejected from the contest. For the Jr. Blades, Osieja was ejected from the game.
