Todosichuk lifts London over Strathroy, 5-2

Behind a great game by Derek Todosichuk, who had two goals, the London Nationals defeated the Strathroy Rockets, 5-2.

Todosichuk found the back of the net 6:34 into the second period to make the score 3-1 London and again while 19:59 into the second to make the score 4-2 London.

London's penalty kill excelled, as the Nationals gave up one goal despite allowing 10 power plays.

Both teams had a hard time staying out of the box, and they combined for 22 penalties during the game.

The London penalty box was a busy place as the team totaled 13 minors and one major for 41 minutes in penalty time. The Nationals had been averaging 26 minutes in penalties per game. London made Rockets' goalies to work all game long, launching 40 shots and forcing 35 saves. Dalen Kuchmey made 31 stops and Brendan O`Neill made four.

Others who scored for London included Judson Couture, who had one and Daniel Cameron, who had two. More assists for London came via Steven Taylor, who had three, Greg Staeger, Noah Schwartz, and Thomas Menechella, who each chipped in one, and Paul Hopkins and Aaron Dartch, who contributed two each.

Strathroy was relatively well disciplined in the game, receiving only seven minors and one major for 19 minutes in penalty time. The Rockets ended up below their season average of 26 penalty minutes per game. Strathroy's offense operated below it season average. The Rockets average four goals per game.

Strathroy was helped by Ryan Field, who grabbed one goal. Field scored 11:34 into the second period to make the score 3-2 London. Brent Andriash assisted on the tally.
