Kitchener blows out Waterloo, 6-1

The Kitchener Dutchmen were firing on all cylinders against the Waterloo Siskins, and when the final buzzer sounded Dutchmen emerged with a 6-1 win.

Waterloo was stymied by Kitchener netminder Mario Duscio, who stopped 37 shots during the victory. The solid play of Duscio will be reflected in his goals against average, which pre-game was 3.64.

Brandon Lesway had one goal and two assists to lead the Dutchmen. Lesway scored 15:06 into the third period to make the score 5-1 Kitchener. Robin Clarke provided the assist.

Kitchener did not rack up many penalties in the contest, and ended with six minors and one major for 17 minutes in penalty time. The Dutchmen finished with less than their 24 minutes average penalties per game. Kitchener put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Siskins to score on any of their five power plays. The Dutchmen forced Waterloo goalie Marc Williams to work between the pipes, taking 33 shots. Kitchener surpassed its usual scoring output this season. This season, the Dutchmen average two goals per contest.

Kitchener additionally got points from Phil Edgar, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Kitchener got a goal from Sean Hergott as well. More assists for Kitchener came via Philip Moser, who had two and Jared Gilbert, David Gallo, Aaron Duggan, Paul Sergi, and Keli Grant, who each chipped in one.

The Siskins kept Kitchener goalie Duscio busy, taking 38 shots.

Waterloo was led by Devon Wagner, who scored the team's only goal. Wagner scored 11:09 into the third period to make the score 4-1 Kitchener.

The Dutchmen registered one goal on four power play opportunities. For Kitchener, Brett Clampitt was ejected from the game. Marc Williams made 27 saves for the Siskins on 32 shots. Waterloo incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
