Leamington rips LaSalle, 7-3Leamington Kinsmen Recreation Thu, Oct 20, 2011 Story by Narrative Science.
The Leamington Flyers had a three-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 7-3 win over the LaSalle Vipers. Alex Seguin had two goals and one assist to lead Leamington. Seguin scored the first of his two goals at 2:13 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Leamington. Dakota Olvin provided the assist. Seguin's next tally made the score 7-2 Leamington with 8:05 left in the third period. Chris Scott picked up the assist. The Flyers' penalty kill excelled, as Leamington gave up one goal despite allowing 10 power plays. The Flyers racked up the penalties in the contest, and ended with 11 minors and one major for 27 minutes in penalty time. Leamington surpassed its season average of 19 penalty minutes per game. The Flyers found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. Leamington has scored at the pace of four goals per game during the current campaign. Leamington additionally got points from Scott, who also racked up one goal and two assists. Leamington got a goal from Nicholas Nicodemo as well. Other players who recorded assists for Leamington were Darien Ekblad, Brett Babkirk, Brian Johnson, Eric Leardi, and Brett Langlois, who each chipped in one and Mitchell Amante and Kyle Bowman, who contributed two each. LaSalle put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Flyers to score on any of their five power plays. The Vipers kept Leamington's goalie busy throughout the game, and Ekblad made 33 saves on 36 shots. LaSalle was helped by Dylan Seguin, who tallied one goal. Seguin scored on the power play 13:10 into the first period to make the score 1-1. The Vipers had gotten the advantage when the Flyers' Jacob McGhee was sent off for kneeing. Brad Carroll assisted on the tally. Eric Noel also scored for LaSalle. In addition, LaSalle received assists from Scott Prier, who had two and Tim Edwards, Evan Makaric, and Matt Beaudoin, who each chipped in one. For Leamington, Ron Soucie and Babkirk were ejected from the contest. Jordan Dekort took the loss and made 10 saves before being replaced by Andrew Polkosnik who made nine saves. LaSalle ended with 15 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major. For the Vipers, Weston Gaul was ejected from the game.
