Fayetteville takes care of Pensacola early, wins 8-4

The Fayetteville FireAntz jumped out to a four-point advantage by the end of the first period and beat the Pensacola Ice Flyers, 8-4.

Bobby Reed was all over the ice for Fayetteville, as he tallied one goal and three assists in the win. Reed scored 18:32 into the third period to make the score 8-4 Fayetteville. Josh McQuade provided the assist.

The FireAntz pulled out the victory even though they were hit with 40 penalty minutes.

Fayetteville's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on seven Pensacola power plays. By firing 30 shots on goal, the FireAntz exceeded the 23.9 shots they average per game this year. Fayetteville's goal total was higher than its season average. The FireAntz average 3.2 goals per game.

Fayetteville also got points from Mike Forgie, who also tallied one goal and one assist, Chris Rebernik, who also racked up one goal and one assist, and Mike Atkinson, who also had two goals and one assist. Fayetteville also got a goal from Kyle McNeil as well. Other players who recorded assists for Fayetteville were Kyle Frieday, Anthony Pisano, Jesse Cole, and Chris Leveille, who each chipped in one.

Pensacola's offense was clicking better than usual and put 44 shots on goal during the game, better than the 24.5 shots per game it averages.

The Ice Flyers were led by Ryan Salvis, who dished out two assists.

Mike Brown rejected 40 shots on goal for Fayetteville. The FireAntz registered one goal on two power play opportunities. Fayetteville ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Robert Sich was ejected from the game. Corey Milan took the loss and made 20 saves before being replaced by Jesse Kallechy who made two saves. Pensacola incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors. For the Ice Flyers, Chris Wilson was ejected from the game.
