Louisiana falls to Mississippi RiverKings in overtime, 4-3 (OT)

Chevan Wilson gave Mississippi RiverKings a 4-3 (OT) victory over the Louisiana IceGators when he scored 1:33 into the extra period.

Mississippi RiverKings was paced by Wilson, who racked up one goal.

Mississippi RiverKings relied on a core group of players for most of its offense, as Kyle Lundale, Nick Vandenbeld and Kevin Hamel took 12 of the team's 23 shots.

Mississippi RiverKings also got a goal from Matt Whitehead as well. In addition, Mississippi RiverKings received assists from Mark Magnowski, who had two and Leland Fidler and Ken Selby, who contributed one a piece.

The Louisiana penalty box was a popular destination as the team totaled six minors and two majors for 32 minutes in penalty time. The IceGators surpassed its season average of 17.0 penalty minutes per game. With 31 shots on target during the contest, Louisiana exceeded the 25.3 shots it averages per game this year.

The IceGators were helped by Robert Short, who had one goal. Short scored 15:28 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Louisiana. Tyler Fernandez picked up the assist. Tyler Lyon also scored for Louisiana. Other players who recorded assists for Louisiana were Brayden Metz, who had one and Clark Byczynski and Jason Hill, who contributed two a piece.

Scott Darling made 22 saves before being replaced by David Wilson, who took the win and made six saves. Mississippi RiverKings totaled 14 minutes in penalty time with two minors and two majors and went 1-for-6 on the power play. Louisiana's Jeff Rose stopped 19 shots out of the 23 that he faced. The IceGators registered one goal on two power play opportunities. Louisiana ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Eric Tallent was ejected from the game.
